MENA Financial Action Task Force Concludes Meeting in Qatar

Doha, May 02 (QNA) - The Middle East & North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF) against Money Laundering and Terrorist concluded Monday its 23rd meeting and issued a number of resolutions. Deputy Governor of Qatar Central Bank (QCB) HE Sheikh Fahd bin Faisal Al-Thani chaired Qatar's delegation to the meeting. A statement released today from QCB said the members approved to establish a forum of experts in the field of combating finance of terrorist groups. HE Qatar's Minister of Finance Ali Shareef Al Emadi gave a speech during the meeting, and expressed Qatar's commitment to supporting global efforts in the field of countering money laundering and financing terrorism. His Excellency revealed that Qatar is preparing a center specialized in training how to combat money laundering and terrorism. HE Sheikh Fahd bin Faisal Al-Thani, who is also the President of MENAFATF also gave a speech that shed light on the importance of the group and its role in combating money laundering and financing terrorism. His Excellency said that the group's role gained more relevance due to the challenge that currently faces the region. (QNA)
