MIFF 2015 Trending As Best Platform For Furniture Products

By Rosemarie Khoo Mohd Sani KUALA LUMPUR, March 4 (Bernama) - The Malaysian International Furniture Fair (MIFF) has become the ideal platform to find the best furniture products. The biggest event of its kind in Southeast Asia, the MIFF 2015 is now keeping buyers busy with its wide range of products from 15 countries, including Malaysia, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, South Korea and Bulgaria. A first time visitor, Seiichiro Yamane from Japan, said he came to Malaysia on being told that it was easy to find what he was looking for at the MIFF 2015. "I was following the trend of many other players in the furniture industry as Malaysia has established itself as one of the most robust trading platforms in the global furniture industry," he told Bernama at the launch of the MIFF 2015, here Tuesday. Yamane, President of Yamane HD Co. Ltd, is involved in the home building and furniture trading business. Japan is one of the biggest buyers at the MIFF, apart from ASEAN members, the European Union, North America and Canada. Another potential buyer from Japan, the Executive Vice President of Hattori Kagu Center Co. Ltd, Kunihiko Hattori, said he came to the MIFF 2015 to check out the latest offerings in the beddings and dining section. "With the rising cost of wages in China, I need to revise my company’s strategy and hope to benefit from this event in Malaysia," he added. The five-day MIFF 2015 which began Tuesday is expected to see more than 6,000 international visitors. MIFF 2015, in its 21st year, is being held at two venues, namely the Putra World Trade Centre and the Matrade Exhibition and Convention Centre (MECC). It is organised by UBM Malaysia. In conjunction with the event, there will be an industry seminar, with speakers from Italy, the United States and Malaysia, covering topics on design and lifestyle, furniture safety and applications of Malaysian timber. -- BERNAMA
