Mindpearl To Use Malaysia As Launchpad To Asian Region

SHAH ALAM (Selangor, Malaysia), Sept 10 (Bernama) -- Customer support provider to the aviation industry, Mindpearl Group Ltd aims to use Malaysia as its platform to serve the Asian region, said Chief Executive Officer William Pattison. He said the company's Malaysia office would serve Asian languages and offer job opportunities for Malaysia Airlines Bhd's former employees. Mindpearl has been awarded the global contact centre outsourcing contract for Malaysia Airlines. Previously, Malaysia Airlines operated its customer support centre from several locations, including its head office in Kuala Lumpur. "We would like to see this office grow in the coming months. We normally start with one customer. "The offices in Australia and Fiji all started with one customer. We now have a total of 18 customers," Pattison told reporters at the launch of Mindpearl's Malaysia office here, Friday. Also present were Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation Chief Strategy Officer Siva Kumar Ramanathan and Malaysia Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Arved von zur Muehlen. Besides Malaysia, Mindpearl also has offices in Australia, Spain, South Africa and Fiji. Pattison said the company is currently in talks with potential customers in the region, but he did not elaborate. The Malaysia office is Mindpearl's first office in Asia and fifth office across the globe. The Malaysia office was established in August this year and consists of 180 workers, of whom 140 are locals. Mindpearl began in 1999 as a captive contact centre with a number of European offices providing customer service support in multiple languages to the customers and passengers of a consortium of 11 European airline companies. Meanwhile, van zur Muehlen said Mindpearl would be servicing the airline's customers in several languages. "Right now, we don't offer that services to our customers. It is a service improvement and I hope it is a cost-efficient service improvement for us," he added. Mindpearl's Malaysia office will cater to the needs of its clients in various languages including English, Malay, Japanese, Korean and Khmer. --BERNAMA
