Minister: Good Stock Market Turned To Factor For Increased Prices

Tehran, Oct 27, IRNA – Minister of Industries, Mines and Trade warning heads of Good Stock Market (GSM) here Friday said GSM has turned to a factor for increasing basic production goods’ prices (steel and petrochemical); beware! Since otherwise we would adopt legal measures. According to Iran Production and Trade News Network (SHATA), Mahdi Ghazanfari pointing out that today the country is faced with expensive goods prices and overcharging phenomena, said, “Overcharging is a trade violation and we would seriously encounter it, but expensive prices have numerous causes, among which there are hard currency positive fluctuations and inappropriate behavior of the GSM.” Further stressing that the hard currency fluctuations, too, do affect the goods’ status and the service rates, he said, “Besides the hard currency fluctuations unfortunately the Good Stock Market, too, has today been turned into a factor for increasing the prices of the base products (steel and petrochemical products) for our manufacturers.” The minister of industries, mines, and trade referring to the people’s complaints and concerns regarding the status of prices said, “It is quite obvious that we are faced with the overcharging phenomenon, which is a trade violation. A group of profiteers and even a group of people who fear lest if they would sell their goods they would not be able to replace them at the same price, have without gaining the required permits increased the prices of their goods and this has made the State Consumers and Producers Organization, too, to intensify the process of its inspections.” Ghazanfari said, “In addition to the files that are opened every day, the number of new files for the manufacturers, the wholesalers, and the distributors, too, are increasing and this shows that the trade violations occur to a greater extent in the society today and the government and the system’s encountering with these is rising so that by taking greater care of the bazaar they would block the path for greater annoyance of the people.”/end
