Minister Urges Students Abroad To Interact With Malaysian University Alumni Associations

From Mohd Iswandi Kasan Anuar ANKARA (Turkey), April 18 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed has urged students abroad to effectively interact with alumni associations of Malaysian universities, citing the Turkish International Islamic University Malaysia Alumni, as an example. He said the interaction could provide a platform for promoting each other's country, not only in tourism and culture, but also economically, while exchanging views on current issues. "This interaction will open up a channel for future international cooperation between both countries to be taken to greater heights," he said when meeting with Malaysian students and the Turkish International Islamic University Malaysia Alumni here Thursday. Mustapa said as "ambassadors", they should build new bridges between both nations, which in the end can impact positively the bilateral relationship. He said alumni members who have vast overseas experience and are now among leaders of the future, either in the public or private sectors, should play a major role in conducting the necessary activities together with Malaysian students. This, he added, can be done with the help of the International Trade and Industry Ministry's agency offices. There are 70 Malaysian students in Turkey, while the Turkish International Islamic University Malaysia Alumni has over 100 members. --BERNAMA
