Ministry of Economy Meets Wholesale Traders

Doha, July 05 (QNA) - The Ministry of Economy and Commerce held a meeting today with wholesale traders of vegetables and fruits (importers) to discuss needs for securing the optimum work at the new central markets which are still under establishment in Umm Salal, Al Sailiyah and Wakrah, and to study proposals that would help encourage merchants to practice business in the new markets in order to become an attraction to people residing in those areas. During the meeting, the importers praised the importance of the project, expressing their cooperation with the ministry to achieve the interests of all parties. They also provided some proposals, ideas and remarks aimed to facilitate import and trade. For its part, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce welcomed the ideas and proposals and showed keenness to study them in order to achieve the public interest. The Ministry of Economy and Commerce and Manateq Economic Zones Company - Qatar signed in last March an agreement providing for the establishment of complete central markets in Umm Salal, Al Sailiyah and Wakrah. The new three central markets are aimed at meeting the increasing consumer demand for vegetables, meat, livestock and poultry as well trade and services activities such as bank branches, administrative buildings and commercial outlets and accommodations for the workers employed there.(QNA)
