Jakarta, Sept 1 (Antara) - The Indonesian Marine and Fisheries Ministry has been gearing up for the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015 by preparing efficient human resources in global competition. "These measures have been taken for the industrialization of fisheries, stabilization of food security and sovereignty, and creation of job opportunities," said Indonesian Marine and Fisheries Minister Sharif C. Sutardjo in a press release received here on Monday. Responding to the global challenge ahead, the ministry has been preparing its education unit as a vocational education center that will develop knowledge, skill, and character building. The minister stated that the participants are expected to produce goods or provide service in accordance with the market and consumer demands. In addition, Sharif noted that in building a strong maritime country, strong human resources are required for industrialization of the blue economy-based marine and fisheries. Knowledge and technology support are needed to face the challenge. "Cutting-edge innovations are required. Therefore, competent and potential human resources are needed to develop millions of new entrepreneurs, which will reduce poverty and unemployment," Sharif stressed. Sharif also stated the five important factors in developing the education unit--instill positive moral, increase professionalism, care for the fishermen community, maintain international standards, and maintain unity of the nation as a prominent paradigm. The education unit has been delivering many outstanding experts, such as Dr. Tb. Haeru Rahayu, M.Sc., who has received the Satya Lancana award from the president for the development of a work-related innovation Mini Scale Plastic Pond Shrimp Farming Technology (BUSMETIK).
