Mitsui wants to invest on dual-track locomotive in Thailand

BANGKOK, Nov 21 (TNA) -- Mitsui & Co (Thailand) Ltd is interested to invest on a dual-track train project linking between the western Thai border province of Kanchanaburi to the eastern deep seaport of Laem Chabang, said Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith. His remarks were made after a meeting with Shingo Sato Managing Officer and President of the firm on Friday. Mr Sato told Mr Arkhom that his company is interested to invest on the train services and maintenance for the dual-track train services linking between Kanchanaburi – Bangkok - Sa Kaeo – Laem Chabang. Mr Arkhom said he had told the Japanese executive that Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak is scheduled to visit Japan next week and plans to sign several memorandum of understanding, including a cooperation on the dual-track train project, with the Japanese government. Mr Somkid is scheduled to visit Japan between November 25 – 28. Mr Arkhom also said an agreement on a train service cooperation between Thailand and China is due to be signed on December 3. (TNA)
