PETALING JAYA (Selangor, Malaysia), March 30 (Bernama) -- Motorola Solutions Malaysia Sdn Bhd sees the country as a key market in the region as its retail industry is at the mid-maturity stage, says its retail vertical Asia Pacific director Anand Mehta. According to a forecast by Business Monitor International, the total retail sales locally would grow from RM200 billion (US$65.2 bllion) this year to RM248 billion (US$80.86 billion) in 2016. Anand said companies should take advantage of the developing technology to achieve a seamless business operation. "Our innovative solutions are designed to enable business agility, improve worker productivity, increase sales as well as enhancing customer experience. "We see our self-scanning solution, catered for supermarkets and hypermarkets, will make a big hit among the technology-savvy consumers in Asia, such as Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, within the next 12 to 18 months," Anand told reporters at the company's roundtable discussion on the local retail industry here on Friday. He said Microsoft Solutions are already in discussions with prominent retailers to implement the technology. "This particular solution is already popular in Europe and growing rapidly in the United States, because it benefits both retailers and customers by increasing sales of the retailers and enhancing the shopping experience of the customers," he added. Meanwhile, its Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) solution, designed for clothing retailers, can reduce receive time for up to 91 per cent and increase sales from between four per cent and 21 per cent. Motorola Solutions has a complete suite of retail mobility solutions with a wide portfolio of customers, including Mydin, Tesco, Zara and Macy's. -- BERNAMA
