MP: High share in GDP can be allocated to Kerman

Kerman, Nov 8, IRNA – Majis deputy for Sirjan and Bardsir said on Saturday that Kerman enjoys ample capabilities and thus can be allocated a high share in gross domestic product (GDP). Shahbaz Hassanpour told IRNA that despite measures taken in Kerman Province so far only 20% of its capabilities have been represented, pointing to humbleness, non-demanding and pre-Revolution historical backwardness of provincial people as the main characteristics hindering harmonious movement with the rapid pace of development. He referred to water scarcity in the province and said water shortage in the country, particularly in Kerman Province has reached a critical condition but the required sensitivity is absent. Stressing that the geopolitical, strategic and specific situation of Kerman has not been defined in the country’s planning, Hassanpour said those in charge of the president’s forthcoming visit to the province can set up an exhibition of provincial capabilities. In his view, government’s provision of infrastructures can be the main prerequisite for generating wealth out of the existing resources and that Kerman Province can represent a successful pattern of Islamic management. He emphasized that capabilities of Kerman should be represented throughout the country, adding that an industrial revolution is taking shape in the province which, despite being delayed, has an acceptable pace. He called on the media to represent natural beauties of the province and introduce its diversified capabilities to the world and by building culture prepare the ground for the people to become demanding. The Majlis deputy further remarked that weak points should be identified and strong points should be strengthened in the province, adding that the target market for Kerman agricultural, industrial and mining products should be regional markets in order to obtain success.
