MPRC Promoting Malaysia As Regional OGSE Hub At OTC Asia 2018

KUALA LUMPUR, March 20 (Bernama) – Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC) will be promoting the Malaysian oil and gas services and equipment (OGSE) industry at the Offshore Technology Conference Asia 2018 (OTC Asia 2018). The conference, which is a biennial gathering for regional energy professionals to advance scientific and technical knowledge for offshore resources and environmental matters, will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KL Convex) from Tuesday until March 23. “We facilitate both inbound investments and internationalisation of local OGSE companies as part of efforts to create a dynamic hub environment,” said MPRC’s head of Trade and Investment, Mohd Yazid Ja’afar in a statement Monday. “Malaysia is an ideal springboard for companies seeking to grow their Asian footprint due to our strategic location and pro-business environment. In addition, there is a well-established oil and gas market here with a strong ecosystem comprising industry players, trade associations and government agencies that support the vision to turn Malaysia into a top regional OGSE hub,” he added. The conference participants and exhibition visitors can head over to MPRC’s booth #S401 at the exhibition hall foyer which serves to promote Malaysian OGSE capabilities as well as trade and investment opportunities. Meanwhile, aligning with the conference’s emphasis on technology in the oil and gas industry, MPRC will organise a special ‘Meet the Tech Enablers’ session from 10 am to 5 pm on Wednesday at the Hospitality Lounge 1, KL Convex for Malaysian OGSE companies seeking to advance their technology projects. MPRC’s head of Industry Development, Syed Azlan Syed Ibrahim said this session would feature one-on-one meeting opportunities for OGSE companies which would be able to connect with agencies such as MIMOS Bhd, Malaysian Technology Development Corporation, PlaTCOM Ventures Sdn Bhd, NANOMalaysia Bhd and Technology Park Malaysia that collaborated with MPRC via OGITeC to accelerate innovation and technology development in the oil and gas industry. “By connecting with these enabler agencies, companies can identify suitable partners to develop an idea from conception towards commercialisation, gaining clarity on options for funding, manufacturing, IP protection or how to incorporate digital or nano-technology into their solutions,” he said. Those who visit MPRC’s booth will also be able to access information on its talent retention initiatives for the industry and the latest OGSE Catalogue 2018 which features the capabilities of 242 Malaysian OGSE companies. Formed in 2011 as an agency reporting to the Prime Minister’s Department, MPRC provides policy recommendations to the government to promote the globalisation of local OGSE capabilities in the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors. -- BERNAMA
