M'sian Companies Record US$13.2 Mln In Potential Sales At Fine Food Australia 2016

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 (Bernama) -- Malaysian companies have recorded US$13.2 million (RM54.46 million) in potential sales at the Fine Food Australia 2016 in Melbourne on Sept 12-15, said the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE). It said of the total, US$2.07 million (RM8.54 million) was actual sales, comprising distribution partnerships with importers from Australia and New Zealand, supply agreement with a five-star hotel in Melbourne, and several original equipment manufacturer deals with Australian food and beverages companies. (US$1 = RM4.12) "Twenty-four Malaysian companies and the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority participated the event, which is the largest annual trade show in Australia. "It was MATRADE'S 11th participation in the event," it said in a statement Thursday. Meanwhile, MATRADE said for the first seven months of this year, Malaysia's export of processed food to Australia amounted to RM691.5 million. "The top five Malaysian food products exported to the country are edible products and preparations; cocoa and cocoa preparations; prepared cereals and flour preparations; margarine and shortening; as well as processed seafood," it said.
