KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian delegation to the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asia Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) and Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) conference in the Philippines generates potential sales of US$24.93 million (RM81.7 million). The delegation led by Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Razali Ibrahim, also comprised 49 Malaysian companies that engaged in 584 business to business meetings during the five-day conference beginning Oct 22. Razali in his speech at the conference highlighted the importance of cooperation among countries in the BIMP-EAGA and IMT-GT in order to realise the Asean Economic Community (AEC) by 2015. "This trade fair represents a good platform to empowering cooperation, sharing of resources and promoting products as well as services of the participating companies," he said. He also stressed on the importance of synergies between these companies to provide the best services to not only the 130 million market of the BIMP-EAGA and IMT-GT specifically but also the global market. "While not denying the importance of competition, the spirit of friendship must be emphasised so that the idea of AEC 2015 could be realised successfully," said Razali. This programme had attracted some 1,400 industrialists, exporters and players in the small and medium industries. -- BERNAMA
