NEC And Id-SIRTII/CC Collaborating On Cyber Security In Indonesia

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 22 (Bernama) -- NEC Corporation (NEC) is collaborating with the Indonesia Security Incident Response Team on Internet Infrastructure Coordination Centre (Id-SIRTII/CC) in the area of cyber security in Indonesia. In a statement, NEC said the Id-SIRTII/CC is an agency under the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information Technology tasked with creating a secure environment for Internet-based communications in the republic. Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed Tuesday, NEC and the Id-SIRTII/CC will design a reference model for a Security Operation Centre (SOC) that meets requirements for Indonesia's government agencies, as well as a detailed human resource development plan for the SOC's operations. NEC and the Id-SIRTII/CC will also study the possibilities of collaborating in developing counter measures against increasing threats of cyber attacks in Indonesia by utilising security intelligence information held by the Id-SIRTII/CC, it said. "In order to cope with increasingly complex and sophisticated cyber attacks, it is important to share cyber intelligence information among organisations that are working on cyber attack counter measures. "Through the collaboration with the Id-SIRTII/CC, NEC is reinforcing its commitment to contributing to the creation of a safer and more reliable cyber space both for Japan and Indonesia," Hiroyuki Nagano, NEC General Manager, National Security Solutions Division. Meanwhile, Id-SIRTII/CC Executive Board Rudi Lumanto said Indonesia has seen rapidly increasing demand from the public and private sectors to protect information assets through the introduction and operation of measures against cyber-attacks. "We firmly believe that NEC, with their extensive expertise in the cyber security arena, will play a leading role in supporting our efforts to establish and operate a country-level security operation centre," he said. --BERNAMA
