NEC Joins Lockheed in Australian Defense Contract

Sydney, Sept. 11 (Jiji Press)--Australia's Defense Department has contracted U.S. security and aerospace giant Lockheed Martin Corp. to integrate its centers handling military data, with Japan's NEC Corp. <6701> assigned to manage servers and storage. The department plans to incorporate data centers at 280 sites into 11 domestic locations and three overseas. It hopes centralization will improve security and processing efficiency. The contract with Lockheed is worth about 800 million Australian dollars, while the deal with NEC is valued at 150 million dollars. END
