Negotiations with CNPC on contract for "Western Route" are on track - Gazprom

MOSCOW, August 26. /TASS/. Negotiations between Gazprom and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) on the contract for the supply of Russian natural gas to China via the "Western Route" are on track, Gazprom said Wednesday after two working meeting of the company’s Head Alexey Miller and the First Vice Premier of the State Council of China Zhang Gaoli and CNPC chairman Wang Yilin. According to the company’s report, the parties are focused on the successful completion of negotiations. As TASS reported earlier, on May 8, 2015, Russia and China signed an agreement on the framework basic conditions of gas supplies to China via the "Western Route". Now parties must prepare and sign a contract. Earlier press secretary to the Russian President Dmitry Peskov did not rule out that the gas contract for the "Western Route" could be signed at the beginning of September, during President Putin's visit to China. Earlier Miller noted that the company was in talks with the Chinese side on calculations on the contract for the supply of gas through the "Western Route" in rubles and yuan. The "Western Route" provides for supply of natural gas to China from West Siberian fields totaling 30 bln cubic meters of gas a year, with the potential growth to 100 bln cubic meters of gas a year later on.
