NESDB organises brainstorming session on HR development

BANGKOK, September 26 (TNA) - The state-run National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) has organised a brainstorming annual session on "Developing People for Thailand’s Future". Participants in Friday's session include Deputy Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, who is also NESDB Secretary-General, President of Mahidol University Council Dr. Wijarn Phanich, Bangkok Bank Board Chairman Kosit Panpiemras and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of True Corporation Public Company Limited Suphachai Chearavanont. Arkhom told the participants that Thailand is going to see several changes in the future, including the aged society, while people living in big cities imitate Westerners’ lifestyle and innovative technologies and the environmental and climate change problems become deteriorated. Besides, the role of Asia, which is important to the global economy, also affects Thai people and the society. Because of these factors, Arkhom suggested, it is essential for Thailand to further develop human resources in order to upgrade the national development, address social disparity and achieve sustainable development. Arkhom said the NESDB's multi-dimensional proposals on human resources development include those on enhancing the potential of Thai people, creating life security for people and family happiness and developing people in economic spheres. According to the deputy transport minister, the NESDB also proposes measures on developing labour forces before they enter into the local production and service sectors in the future, as well as on improving urban environment to raise people's quality of life.
