New Chilean-Malaysian Business Council To Improve Trade Links

KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 (Bernama) -- The newly established Chilean-Malaysian Business Council (CMBC) will further improve trade and investment links between the two countries. Malaysian Ambassador to Chile Dr Mohamad Rameez Yahaya, who is also CMBC patron, said the establishment of the council was witnessed by International Trade and Industry Minister, Mustapa Mohamed in Santiago, Chile on Sunday. "With this formality and establishment of CMBC, it is hoped that Malaysia and Chile's business, trade and investments will improve further. "We expect many Chileans to be more encouraged to venture into the Malaysian market," Mohamad Rameez said in a statement. He said the embassy also organised a tea event at the ambassador's residence, attended by the minister, as well as five ASEAN Ambassadors with residences in Santiago (Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and Philippines), representatives from the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Alumni from Chile and local businessmen. Mustapa also had meetings with representatives from Andes Motor (Kauffman Group), which is going to be the distributive agent for Proton in Chile, as well as, Larrainvial SA, the biggest financial investment broker and management advisor in Latin America. --BERNAMA
