New Zealand Encouraged To Invest In Indonesia

Jakarta, May 20 (Antara) - Deputy Minister of Commerce Bayu Krisnamurthi has encouraged New Zealand business players to invest in Indonesia for cooperation between the two countries that is not limited in trade only. "Not just trade with Indonesian, work with us," Bayu said while delivering a speech on "New Zealand-Indonesia Business Forum 2013," on Monday. Bayu said that New Zealand is supposed to look at the bigger picture and not to see Indonesia as a market only. "The market potential is huge, not only Indonesia, but if we work together then the potential for ASEAN market will also open," said Bayu. According to Bayu, the Ministry also expects cooperation with the New Zealand government that can solve some of the problems that exist in Indonesia such as poverty, education, food, and energy. "In addition, communication between the two countries should also be improved," said Bayu. Products imported from New Zealand including milk and cheese which demand growth in Indonesia rose by 17 percent each year, Bayu added. "That what we must develop together, there will be a problem if based on imports only, so investment should be number one," said Bayu. Bayu said that the investments that can be done by the New Zealand authority such as breeding and up to production, and of course also works with farmers and businessmen in Indonesia. "Thus the advantages that New Zealand have can help Indonesia," said Bayu.
