Newly-elected Thai government urged to listen to private sector voices

BANGKOK, May 27 (TNA) - The Thai National Shippers' Council (TNSC) has called on the newly-elected administration to listen to the private sector's voices about its national economic policies and measures. TNSC Chairperson Ghanyapad Tantipipatpong made the call in Bangkok on Monday, saying that the private sector's voices will help make the new Thai government's measures and solution to the national economy become more practically-effective. Ghanyapad told journalists that the private sector wants the newly-elected Thai government to, among others, carry on and expedite the further development of national infrastructure concretely, especially those on rail and marine transport projects. Besides, after taking its office, the newly-elected Thai administration, through the Ministry of Commerce, should boost shipments of Thai goods to the world market through its all possible approaches to drive forward the national economy, which mainly relies on exports, including cutting red-tape or unnecessary procedures to facilitate Thai exporters and to attract more foreign investment plans into the Thai economy. The TNSC chairperson also urged the newly-elected Thai government to accelerate the development of the country's digital economy and to promote and support educational programs that directly meet the demand of domestic businesses or industrial sectors. The TNSC chairperson called for the new Thai government as well to gradually raise the country's minimum wages to appropriate levels, taking increased costs of business operators into careful consideration.
