Newly-elected Thai government urged to reduce disparity through innovations

BANGKOK, February 7 (TNA) - The private sector has called on the newly-elected Thai government to resort to innovations to help develop more value-added farm products and to reduce disparity in the country when it takes office in the coming months. Supant Mongkolsuthree, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), made the call on February 6, proposing that the innovations should be utilized through public programs, implemented by the new administration in cooperation with the private sector. Supant told journalists if the proposed moves bear good fruit, they will not only address the problems, but they will also further propel the national economic growth. Besides, the newly-elected Thai government should be a good governance administration with its determination to address the problem of corruption. The FTI chairman said the newly-elected Thai administration should also proceed with the development of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Project, launched by the incumbent military government, and should allow the private sector to take part in its preparing for the state budget to ensure it aligns with the private sector's plans. According to the FTI chairman, the private sector will, next month, prepare its written proposals to be submitted to the newly-elected Thai government after it takes office.(TNA)
