NIOC Official: India-China Still Major Importers Of Iranian Oil

Tehran, April 28, IRNA -- Director of International Affairs for the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Mohsen Ghamsari says China and India are still major importers of Iranian crude. Quoted by Oil and Energy Website, Ghamsari said a major part of oil sale contracts has been concluded with China and India. He said, 'The two countries are still major importers of Iranian crude oil.' Ghamsari said the volume of crude imports by China has increased compared to the previous year. He said India stands second after China in terms of crude imports from Iran. 'Besides being signatories to long-term contracts for crude purchase, the customers also buy oil consignments on spot.' On offering discounts to India, he said Iran has not given any discount to its customers. 'Since the payments should be made within 30 days of the oil delivery, any delay would lead to paying interest.' Concluding his remarks, he said Iran had inked contracts with all its customers for the year 2012 before sanctions on its oil sale went into effect./end
