Number Of Foreign Visitors To Indonesia Up

Jakarta, Oct 1(Antara) - The number of foreign visitors to Indonesia grew 6.38 percent to 826,8000 in August from 777,2000 in July, 2014. The number also rose 7.24 percent from 771,000 in the same month in 2013, head of the Central Bureau of Statistic (BPS) Suryamin said in a new conference here on Wednesday. Suryamin said an increase was recorded in almost all entrance gates with the highest growth of 163 percent recorded by the new Lombok International Airport of West Nusa Tenggara. The visitors came from Singapore making up 12.54 percent, China 12.38 percent , Australia 11.89 percent, Malaysia 10.95 percent and Japan 6.11 percent. Meanwhile occupancy rates of star-rated hotels in 27 provinces averaged 52.02 percent or an increase of 1.83 percentage points from a year earlier. The length of stay of foreign guests in star rated hotels averaged 2.01 days or an increase of 0.07 percentage point from August in 2013. Cumulatively , the number of foreign tourists visiting the country in the first 8 months of the year totaled 6.16 million or an increase of 9.08 percent from 5.64 million in the same period in 2013.
