Official: Russia, China may ink intergovernmental gas accord Monday

BEIJING, October 13. /TASS/. Russia and China are likely to sign an intergovernmental agreement on gas supplies via the eastern route by gas giant Gazprom later on Monday at a meeting of the governments’ heads, trade representative to China Alexei Gruzdev said in an interview with PRIME released on October 12. “Interested authorities of Russia and China within the last few months have been holding regular consultations on an intergovernmental treaty on energy sector cooperation, including natural gas supplies via the eastern route. I expect that the parties will manage to get to the stage of signing of the document during the 19th regular meeting of the governments’ heads scheduled for October 13 in Moscow,” Gruzdev said. In May, Gazprom signed a U.S. $400 billion 30-year contract on gas supplies with Chinese company CNPC. Read related news
