Official: Saudi Has No Share In Arash Gas Field

Tehran, July 14, IRNA – Deputy Oil Minister for the international and economic affairs Ali Majedi said on Sunday that Arash gas filed is shared between Iran and Kuwait and has nothing to do with Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia has claimed that Iran has no share in Arash joint gas field with Kuwait, he said. Previously some Iranian oil officials had declared that Saudi Arabia has no share in the joint gas field with Kuwait, Majedi said. The Japanese oil company APC has dug the gas well in 1962 in the Persian Gulf region. Arash gas field reserves some 13 trillion of cubic feet of natural gas. Production Manager for Iran Offshore Oil Mohammad Bagher Soleimani said the company has not taken any measure to develop the joint gas field. Official talks between Iran and Kuwait initiated from the year 2000 on exploitation of the joint gas field. Saudi Arabia with huge oil resources suffer shortage of remarkable gas fields and is currently doing its best to find access to Arash gas field, he said.
