Official Urges Exports Increase To Russia Via Northern Ports

Noshahr, Mazandaran Prov, Sept 29, IRNA – Director General of Mazandaran Ports and Maritime Organization Manouchehr Tatina said on Sunday Iran should pave the ground to increase goods exports to Russia through the former's northern ports. The official made the remarks referring to recent sanctions imposed on Russia by the West. The US and EU have imposed an array of sanctions on Russian individuals and businesses in response to the recent crises in Crimea and in eastern Ukraine. Any delay on speeding up development projects of Iran's sea transport through the Caspian Sea will damage the process of northern port cities development, Tatina added addressing a ceremony in this Caspian Sea port city on the occassion of the World Maritime Day (Septmeber 26). He further called for establishment of proper infrastructure to speed up development of northern ports noting this would help improve marine trade via northern seaports. Referring to Noshahr as one of the oldest port cities of Iran, Tatina said, in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year (started on March 21, 2014) loading/unloading operations in Noshahr had a remarkable growth which was 56 percent higher than its corresponding period last year. Noshahr is the capital of Noshahr County in Mazandaran Province located at about 280 km north of capital Tehran./end
