Ooredoo Builds Position as Regional Internet of Things Leader

Doha, March 02 (QNA) - Ooredoo today announced the expansion of its Managed Connectivity Platform to Qatar, taking the number of countries covered by the service to four, alongside Indonesia, Tunisia and Kuwait. Ooredoo is set to launch an upgraded suite of Internet of Things (IoT) services for Qatar at the upcoming QITCOM digital event, taking place in Doha from 6-8 March 2017. In expanding the service to major markets, Ooredoo is positioning itself as a leading regional IoT player, and the company is in discussion at The Mobile World Congress 2017 ending today in Spain, with a number of global leaders looking to use its network during this week's Mobile World Congress. It has expanded the service to other Ooredoo markets in the subsequent years, and is increasingly working with multinational companies looking to apply global IoT solutions in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia. Ooredoo launched its Device Connection Platform (DCP) with Ericsson for customers in Indonesia during the 2015 Mobile World Congress, enabling companies to deploy innovative technologies to create connected solutions. Group CEO at Ooredoo Sheikh Saud bin Nasser Al Thani said, "Ooredoo sees significant opportunities for working with device manufacturers and IoT solution providers across our footprint, since we provide a world-class network and unmatched local knowledge that enables the rapid deployment of IoT technology. During this year's Mobile World Congress, we are meeting with some of the largest players in the world, who are keen to work with Ooredoo in the MENA region and Southeast Asia in order to provide a truly global solution," he added. Ooredoo is working with a wide range of enterprises, government and small businesses to develop solutions on its IoT platforms. One of the key services provided by Ooredoo is the Managed Connectivity solution IoT Connect. This service includes a central control dashboard, IoT Connect Manager, which provides companies with a comprehensive overview of its IoT connectivity and gives them total control over the whole inventory.(QNA) Minister of Municipality and Environment:' Health, Environment Important Pillars of Qatar National Vision' Cairo, March 02 (QNA) - HE Minister of Municipality and Environment Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi on Thursday stressed that the State of Qatar, under the wise leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, has paid great attention to health and environment by including both of them as one of the important pillars of Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030. Addressing the opening session of the joint meeting of Arab ministers of health and environment co-chaired by HE Al Rumaihi and the Yemeni Minister of Health Dr. Nasser Ba'oom, the Minister of Municipality and Environment the convening of this meeting stresses the need for a harmonization between the areas of health and environment. Today's meeting also stresses the importance of bringing the two fields together and promoting joint Arab action on the relevant issues, HE Al Rumaihi said. In this context, HE Al-Rumaihi underlined the necessity of boosting health and environmental sectors' development in the Arab world. He also praised the efforts being exerted towards achieving the Arab Strategy of Health and Environment (2017 - 2030) in line with national strategies and policies in the Arab countries, in addition to defining the framework for a strategic action aimed at moving forward according to a firm approach, which ensures the advancement of the Arab nation in the areas of health and environment so as to meet their citizens' needs. He underlined the collective keenness to develop our people so as to boost the Arab countries' economy while taking into account the implications of such a growth mainly on the environmental level, which directly or indirectly affects health. The Minister expressed hope that the meeting's outputs would be the first step towards establishing integrated series that link environment and health areas according to a knowledge-based approach and the best international standards and also contributing to the development of the Arab nation to rank among the most developed countries and achieve prosperity of their peoples. Concluding, HE Al Rumaihi praised the 'good' efforts being exerted by the World Health Organization (WHO) along with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in the areas of health and environment. The meeting addresses means of coping with environmental hazards and minimizing their impact on man's wellbeing as well as promoting health and environmental sectors and their capacity in emergency preparedness within the framework of the implementation of international commitments to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
