OPEC ministers will not take a decision at consultative meeting in Istanbul

13th October, 2016 (WAM) -- Energy ministers of members from the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) will not take any decisions at a meeting on Wednesday as it is a consultative meeting, UAE Ministry of Energy Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei said. "Oil prices have more challenges ahead. All those factors are positive for the balance of the market," he told reporters at the 23rd World Energy Congress in Istanbul. The UAE participates in international energy conferences to showcase its experience in energy, including renewables, and benefit from other countries to counter challenges in this sector, the minister said. The UAE delegation to the World Energy Congress includes young male and female engineers with unique experience, he noted. "Our participation in this conference is effective because of this team." The delegation presented the UAE energy strategy which, when finalised, will be submitted to the Cabinet, he said, while noting that the plan focusses on diversifying energy sources, maintaining sustainability, and reducing the carbon footprint in future projects. The 24th World Energy Congress, which will be held in Abu Dhabi in 2019, will be a unique addition to the energy sector, he said, and added that the UAE will be the first Arab and OPEC member to host the event. - (Emirates News Agency, WAM) -http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395301122561.html
