OSMEP pushes Thai SMEs to penetrate Cambodian market

BANGKOK, Nov 19 (TNA) -- Thailand's Office of SMEs Promotion (OSMEP) is pushing forward with support for 125 Thai SMEs in penetrating the Cambodian market with products popular among the country's citizen, while planning to initiate business talks there. Deputy Director of OSMEP Akarapong Srisuphandit said his office has selected 125 SMEs to showcase their products at the Thai Business Council Trade Fair 2016, scheduled to be held between November 18-21, 2016 at Phnom Penh's Diamond Island Exhibition and Convention Centre, aiming to increase new markets, as well as to provide an opportunity for Thai entrepreneurs to research new trade routes. OSMEP, he said, has targeted to the participation on the fair would generate an income of more than 30 million baht from retail products, along with create business deals worht no less than 170 million baht. Mr Akarapong noted that most Cambodians are interested in products such as beverages, processes agricultural products, agricultural industry, as well as fashion and gems and jewelry. The Thai Business Council Trade Fair 2016 is a collaboration between OSMEP, Thailand-Cambodia Friendship Association, Thailand-Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, along with Si Sa Ket Chamber of Commerce. A total of 125 SMEs chosen by the OSMEP and another 175 selected by the Thai Chamber of Commerce (TCC) to put their products on display in more than 300 booths, which included various business groups of food and beverages, beauty products and spa, cosmetics, kitchen appliances, home decor, fashion and clothing, accessories, construction materials, office appliances, agricultural tools and equipment, and tourism-related products.
