Outstanding Thai SMEs to join China (Shanghai) Int'l Catering Food & Beverage Exhibition

BANGKOK, June 4 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Commerce, in cooperation with the Panyapiwat Institute of Management (PIM), will lead outstanding Thai business operators running small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to visit China during June 5-7 to attend the China (Shanghai) International Catering Food & Beverage Exhibition and to explore more approaches for their expanding businesses. Auramon Supthaweethum, Director-General of the ministry's Department of Trade Negotiations, told journalists on June 3 that the selected five teams of outstanding Thai SMEs passed a business competition, dubbed the DTN Business Plan Awards 2019, which were jointly organized by her department and the private PIM recently for their presentations of potential business plans. "The selected five teams of outstanding Thai SMEs are expected to gain more relevant experiences to be beneficial for their business expansion after they attend this week's China (Shanghai) International Catering Food & Beverage Exhibition, a grand trade fair of innovative goods in China, especially food products", Auramon said. According to the senior official, her department will also lead the five teams of outstanding Thai SMEs to pay a courtesy call on the Chinese Consul General in Shanghai, during which they will be briefed on China's rules and regulations on imports and exports, as well as strategies on developing their business matching and networks with their Chinese counterparts. Besides, during their stay in China, the five teams of outstanding Thai SMEs will have good opportunities to meet experienced Chinese business operators to exchange knowledge and views and to visit Chinese large-scaled retailing and wholesaling stores where they can observe and learn on Chinese consumers' behaviors. The senior official revealed that the three-day trip is part of her department's policy on enhancing the competitiveness of Thai farm and processed farm products, produced by the potential SMEs, on the world market through their utilization of the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA).
