Over 130 Japanese businessmen confirmed participation in EEF - Roscongress

MOSCOW, August 8. /TASS/. More than 130 representatives of the Japanese business community are planning to attend the 5th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), an official with the Roscongress Foundation told TASS on Thursday following a meeting between Russian presidential adviser Anton Kobyakov and Japanese ambassador Toyohisa Kozuki. "The parties discussed the preparation of the Russian-Japanese program of events at the highest level. At the meeting, they also studied the possibility of conducting a Russia-Japan business dialogue involving businessmen of the two countries. To date, more than 130 representatives of the Japanese business community have confirmed participation in the forum," the official said. According to the Roscongress, during the meeting the parties emphasized that the Japanese delegation will traditionally take part in the sports program of the forum. On August 5, at a press conference in Tokyo, Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga confirmed that the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe plans to take part in the EEF in Vladivostok in September and meet with the Russian President. The 5th Eastern Economic Forum will be held on the Russky Island in Vladivostok, Russia’s Far East, on September 4-6, 2019. In 2018, the EEF resulted in signing 220 agreements, contracts, memoranda and protocols for the total amount of more than 3 trillion rubles ($46 bln).
