BANGKOK, April 22 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Labour has created over 200,000 jobs for people over the past six months, when state coffers have also risen by nearly 4 per cent year-on-year. Labour Minister General Surasak Kanjanarat told a press conference on Wednesday that his ministry has provided jobs for 220,000 people by successfully implementing its plans, including finding part-time jobs for students and even jobs for persons with disabilities (PWDs). General Surasak said that his ministry has also helped sent Thai job seekers to work overseas and they have already remitted more than 70 billion baht back to their motherland. Besides, his ministry has issued regulations to protect fishing crews and registered fishing boats and fishing workers in 22 Thai provinces. Meanwhile, Finance Minister Sommai Phasee also told a press conference that his ministry has sent 970-billion-baht revenue to the government's coffers during the first six months of the present 2015 fiscal year, which started on October 1, 2014, a 3.9 per cent year-on-year increase. Sommai stated that his ministry has also pushed for the launch of inheritance taxation and border economic zones, along with relieving farmers' debts, supporting nano-finance and promoting Thailand as a regional trade and investment hub by encouraging international firms and agencies to relocate their head offices in Thailand.
