Over 2.5 million tons of basic goods imported via Shahid Rajaee port

Bandar Abbas, IRNA – Over 2 million and 770 thousands tons of basic commodities have been imported to Iran via Shahid Rajaee port, the country’s largest and best-equipped container port, since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21), according to a provincial official. Director-General of Hormozgan Ports & Maritime Organization, Hossein Abbas Nejhad said here on Monday that during the said time span( the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21), 1,276 million tons (mt) of wheat have been unloaded and loaded in Shahid Rajaei Port. The director of The Special Economic Zone (SEZ) of Shahid Rajaee Port in his remarks added that at the time being, two ships containing 42,000 tons of Vegetable Oil and 68,000 tons of wheat are unloading goods at Shahid Rajaei Port's docks. Located along the Persian Gulf and near the Strait of Hormoz, Shahid Rajaei Port is Iran’s biggest container hub, handling almost 80% of the country’s container activities. The strategic port can accommodate Panamax cargo ships with a capacity of more than 12,000 TEU.
