Over 52 Million Passengers to Use Suvarnabhumi Airport in 2015

BANGKOK, Sept 27 (TNA) – Thailand’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport celebrates ninth anniversary of its services launching Monday while it is projected that more than 52 passengers would use the airport in 2015, an increase of 12 per cent from last year, said Sirote Duangratana, director of the airport which is under the supervision of state-run Airports of Thailand Public Co., Ltd. Mr. Sirote said more than 400 million passengers have used the airport since its opening, reflecting passenger confidence and enabling Suvarnabhumi Airport to receive a certificate from the Skytrax recognising the airport as one of the five outstanding airports in the world that are used by between 40-50 million passengers annually. Strategies have been mapped out to make the airport an international gateway in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and also cater to aviation industry growth in Asia-Pacific, said Mr. Sirote. He said concerned officials will promote Suvarnabhumi Airport by improving facilities, boosting services and to reducing time on flight connections for passengers. It is hoped that more commercial airlines would use the airport in future, Mr. Sirote added.(TNA)
