Pakistani Analyst Hails Inauguration Of IP Project

Islamabad, March 12, IRNA – A Pakistani independent analyst on Monday described inauguration of the final construction phase of the multi-billion-dollar Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project as a positive development and a step in the right direction. Talking to IRNA Prof. Dr Hasan Askari Rizvi said that the project would help Pakistan’s economy by boosting industry. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardari have officially inaugurated the final construction phase of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project at Iranian border town of Gabad. “It is a positive development and a step in the right direction because completion of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project means that Pakistan’s energy requirements will be met to a great extent and this will then help Pakistan’s economy by boosting industry,” said Hasan Askari Rizvi. He added that the project is also useful for Iran because it will enable Iran to expand its international economic relations despite America’s efforts to isolate Iran and apply unilateral economic sanctions. “In a way this project when fully operational will show autonomy of two neighboring states to pursue their interests despite America’s opposition,” said the analyst. Hasan Askari Rizvi is a scholar of international repute. His articles regularly appear both in National as well as International Academic Journals, Popular Magazines and daily Newspapers./end
