Pakistani Province To Avail Iran Expertise For Power Generation: Minister

Islamabad, July 20, IRNA - Senior Minister for Irrigation and Energy Sikandar Sherpao of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has said that Iranian expertise would be exploited for power generation and oil and gas exploration in the province, local media reported on Saturday. Talking to Iranian Consul General in Peshawar Hassan Darwaishwand, Sikandar appealed Iran to help the province in power generation and cope with electricity crisis. He said Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province is rich in natural resources including oil, gas and minerals. Pakistan and Iran enjoy brotherly relations and both countries helped each other in time of need, he said, appreciating Iranˈs support during the countryˈs 2010 floods devastation. Sikandar informed the Iranian envoy that after the 18th Amendment in the constitution the provinces have been made autonomous and given power to produce electricity by their own. Speaking on the occasion, the Iranian diplomat recalled Iran and former KP government agreement on different projects and hoped that sitting KP government would continue these projects and help strengthen bilateral ties./end
