Panasonic to Launch Evolved Smart Air Conditioners

Osaka, Sept. 13 (Jiji Press)--Panasonic Corp. <6752> said Thursday it will launch air conditioners featuring artificial intelligence that autonomously switches on their air-cleaning function by forecasting pollution levels in rooms based on data from a weather information company. Panasonic assumes that prices of a total of 17 models of the Eolia WX/X series to be launched in stages from late next month will range from 260,000 yen to 430,000 yen. The company plans to produce a total of 27,000 units a month. To predict room air pollution levels, the AI will specifically analyze municipality-by-municipality information from Weathernews Inc. <4825> on dispersal of air pollutants, such as pollen dust and fine particulate matters called PM2.5. The AI will switch on the air purification function before room pollution occurs. The air conditioners also allow users to weigh up electricity rates through a smartphone app so they can decide whether to turn them off when going out. END
