People in Thailand likely to spend more on Valentine's Day 2018

Bangkok, February. 8 (TNA) - People in Thailand, especially youngsters, are likely to spend nearly 4 billion baht totally nationwide for their Valentine's Day celebrations 2018, which falls on February 14. Thanawat Phonvichai, Director of the Center for Economic and Business Forecasting, under Bangkok-bases University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC), told journalists on Thursday his center's recent survey found that people across the country would spend a total of about 3.82 billion baht for their Valentine's Day celebrations next week, a 3.10 per cent year-on-year increase and the highest amount in 11 years, as 53.1 per cent of the random samples said they would celebrate the upcoming Valentine's Day. Thanawat revealed that his center's recent survey also found most respondents, or 56.4 per cent, would show their love to their sweethearts, followed by to their parents at 18.1 per cent and to their friends at 7.8 per cent. According to the recent survey, 51.3 per cent of the random respondents would purchase gifts to their beloved ones with the same quantity but the higher prices due to the rising costs of living in line with their rising income and the recovering Thai economy. Besides, most of the respondents would buy flowers to their beloved ones, followed by purchasing things at department or retail stores as the Day of Love gifts to their beloved ones. (TNA)
