KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 (Bernama) – The fifth visit by Perfect China Company Ltd to Malaysia is expected to generate an economic impact of about RM39.8 million (US$ = RM4.27), says the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), an agency under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. It said Malaysia welcomed the arrival of 3,500 delegates from Perfect China who are leaders in the fields of household and health food products, beauty and skincare products for the Fifth Achievement Seminar from June 3-11. The seminar is being held following the Perfect China Leadership Seminar 2016 which generated an economic impact of RM242 million with a record attendance of 12,000 delegates, MyCEB said in a statement here Friday. Since 2011, a Perfect China delegation has visited Kuala Lumpur and states throughout Malaysia to seek out international business opportunities and cultural exposure as well as visit places of interest, try out the variety of food dishes in the country, to shop, for recreation and entertainment. MyCEB Chief Executive Officer Zulkefli Sharif said the event was supported by the agency and is aimed at enhancing the continued efforts at making Malaysia a key destination for corporate meetings and incentive for the China market. “Malaysia has a long time welcomed and been a host for corporate meetings and incentives from China. “To date, we have generated RM1.29 billion in economic impact and about 93,540 delegates from China and the support received is proof that Malaysia is a destination of choice for corporate meeting and incentives from China,” he added. Zulkefli said from the aspect of business tourism, China was foremost in the market and represents 25 per cent of the total incentives tourism market and MyCEB hoped to see this growth continue with corporate meetings and the incentives market showing a sustained progress. Minister of tourism and Culture Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said in 2016, Malaysia received 2.1 million tourists from China and this year, the quest is to reach the target of three million arrivals from the country. “The Perfect China 2017 achievement seminar in Malaysia is in line the aspirations of the government under the National Key Economic Area (NKEA) to make Malaysia the choice for Business Events (BE) or Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) hub, as well as a destination of choice for the region to complete the target of 36 million arrivals and RM168 billion in economic impact in 2020,” he added. -- BERNAMA
