PM invites more Japanese to invest, visit Thailand

BANGKOK, August 22 (TNA) -- Reiterating warm relations between Japan and Thailand, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha has invited more Japanese businessmen and tourists to invest and visit Thailand. Gen Prayut told a gathering of Japanese businessmen during a speech, organised at a Bangkok hotel on Friday, that his government wanted to invite more Japanese businessmen to invest in Thailand in 2015 and 2016 because his government is moving the country’s economy forward. He pledged that he would step in to solve legal problems for businessmen personally and if they confronted with any delay in their operations, he would punish those related officials. Gen Prayut said his government has already governed the country about 13 months in an attempt to move Thailand forward and his government is embarking on the third phase which would focus on cooperation with the oversea. Touching on Monday’s deadly explosion at Bangkok’s Ratchaprasong intersection which killed 20 persons, mostly foreigners, and wounded some 120 others, Gen Prayut said he felt sorry for their loss of lives and his government was considering to increase financial aid as compensation to relatives of those who were killed and wounded. Gen Prayut said he was optimistic that police would be able to arrest the wrongdoers soon, therefore, would-be Japanese tourists should not cancel their planned visit to Thailand and their safety would be guaranteed during the stay in this country.
