PM Medvedev approves action plan on gas pipeline construction to China over Eastern Route

GORKI, August 31. /TASS/. Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev approved the action plan in support of building the gas pipeline over the Eastern Route. "I refer to the government decree approving the action plan on the state support of all gas transport infrastructural facilities required for the Eastern Route, including the Power of Siberia [gas pipeline]," the prime minister said at the meeting with his deputies. This will make possible to not merely increase the gas export to China but also to quicker provide gas supply to East Siberia and Far Eastern regions. "Several facilities are to be built that are intended for gas production on fields in Yakutia and Irkutsk Region and for gas processing and transportation. A schedule for development of the transport infrastructure will be prepared on the basis of the integrated action plan approved by the said decree," the prime minister said. The Power of Siberia is a gas transport system contemplating gas transportation from Yakut and Irkutsk gas production centers to the Russia’s Far East and China. Read more
