PM meets Thai business operators, doctors in US

BANGKOK, September 30 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has met Thai business operators and doctors in New York and adjacent US states to brief the work of his government to them. At the meeting on September 29 (local time), Prime Minister General Prayut exchanged views with the Thai business operators and doctors, including restaurateurs, Thai food and orchid importers, transport operators and those in jewellery, perfume and furniture businesses. The prime minister said his government has tackled illegal fishing and human trafficking, facilitated the registration of migrant workers and opened complaint centres in the country and at Thai embassies overseas to help people in trouble. The prime minister noted that his government also promotes international investment by adjusting tax and non-tax privileges, initiating special economic zones and infrastructure development and supporting tourism. On the occasion, the prime minister, who is visiting the United States from September 24-30 to attend the UN General Assembly 2015, asked the Thai business operators in the United States to do business with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Thailand. The Thai business operators and doctors, in turn, urged the government to develop Thailand as a medical hub so that Americans could seek medical service in the country, while proposing as well that the Thai government support the production of medical equipment and prostheses and exports of Thai herbs.
