PM stresses on developing Thailand to be digital economy

BANGKOK, May 26 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has assured international investors that his government protects their interests and is moving forward to develop Thailand to become a "digital 4.0 society” in the region. Inaugurating the "Digital Thailand 2016" Fair at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok on Thursday, the prime minister said that his government will speed up implementing the “Digital Thailand 4.0 society” policy to pave the way for the Kingdom to become a digital hub connecting with the rest of fellow member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The prime minister referred to Thailand's four industrial revolutions, namely mechanisation, mass production, computer and cyber physical systems, noting that over the past two years, his government has laid a foundation in order to achieve the goal. The prime minister stressed that Thailand has to adapt to a digital society with an objective to connect and integrate every sector, including trade, investment, agriculture and education to sustain national development and growth. According to the prime minister, a committee at the national level has been set up to push every sector and increase value through innovative development with transparency. Besides, seven relevant laws are being drafted and are expected to be completed in the near future to promote and support the “Digital Thailand 4.0 Society” (TNA)
