PM tells diplomats to promote Thai economy

BANGKOK, November 13 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has instructed Thai ambassadors and consuls-general stationed overseas to help Thai small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and support Thai marketing overseas in order to boost the national economic growth. The prime minister gave the instructions while opening a brainstorming session with the Thai ambassadors and consuls-general deployed in 96 countries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok on November 13. Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, senior government officials and representatives of the private sector also attended Friday's meeting, aimed at pushing for diplomatic efforts to help promote the national economic growth. It was the second meeting of its kind this year as the government is trying to enhance the competitiveness of Thai business operators, especially SMEs, and their overseas market penetration. The top Thai diplomats were also urged to promote Thai investment overseas and the transfer of knowledge, technology and innovation that will improve the quality of Thai products and services. Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak and economic ministers joined the meeting in the afternoon. (TNA)
