Poll shows Thais want government to fix economy soonest

BANGKOK, August 30 (TNA) - A new survey conducted by Suan Dusit Poll showed most Thais wanted the government to speed-up on resolving national economic issues the most. The survey on 1,320 people during August 24 – 29 showed that up to 78.79 percent of all respondents wanted the government to accelerate on fixing the country’s staggering economic figures, while 68.18 percent believed that inter-agency cooperation between government ministries needed improvement. Also, up to 63.94 percent of the people wanted the government to speed-up on improving Thailand’s image abroad, while 62.12 percent wanted to see improved federal oversight and fair law enforcement procedures. A total of 80.3 percent agreed in the poll that peace had been restored in the country over the past year, 78.7 percent lauded Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha for his decisive actions taken over the past year, while another 32.12 percent said the government should be praised for its sincerity in work which had been in line with its reform roadmap. Meanwhile, 21.82 percent of the respondents said they believed the government had been negatively affected by the August 17 bombing in central Bangkok in the eyes of foreign countries which eroded public confidence.
