Preliminaries Ready To Produce 100,000 Tons Steel In Hormuzgan

Bandar Abbas, Hormuzgan Prov., Oct 1, IRNA – A senior official at Hormuzgan Steel Plant said preliminaries have been prepared for the production of 100 thousand tons of a special product for application in the production of pipelines needed in oil and gas industry. Kiomars Bahrami told IRNA Tuesday that currently the sheets required for the manufacture of oil and gas pipelines are provided from abroad, adding that with their mass production the country will become needless of imports. He referred to the production of special products as one of the most important projects of Hormuzgan Steel Plant. He said as the country possesses the required potentials for manufacture of such products and with the absorption of technical knowledge of domestic producers, basic steps have been taken in this regard. Hormuzgan Steel Plant is one of the main four steel producing units at the Persian Gulf Special Economic Zone for Mining and Metal Industry. Taking advantage of the most advanced achievements in steel industry, it is now producing slab and sponge steel./end
