President Discusses Potential Coop With N Korea

Jakarta, Aug 13 (Antara) - Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa said President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had discussed potential cooperation in several sectors, including economic sector, with North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Su Yong. "President and Su Yong had discussed the strong relationship of both countries and various cooperation opportunities to be implemented such as economic, sociocultural, and sport sectors," Marty reported here on Wednesday after accompanying Yudhoyono at the meeting. Marty expressed his appreciation with regard to the relationship and cooperation between Indonesia and North Korea. He had also agreed to promote cooperation on technology sector, particularly saving energy system. After a meeting with Yudhoyono, Su Yong, who had been inaugurated as foreign minister in April 2014, was scheduled to meet Marty in the afternoon to introduce himself. Yudhoyono welcomed Su Yong at his office in Merdeka Palace at 11:35 a.m. and held a 15-minute discussion. Su Yong was accompanied by Director General of Asian & Oceanic Countries for North Korean Foreign Ministry Kim Myong Gil and North Korean Ambassador for Indonesia Ri Jong Ryul. Meanwhile, President Yudhoyono was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Chairul Tanjung, Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa, Minister of State Secretary Sudi Silalahi, and Cabinet Secretary Dipo Alam.
