President Ilham Aliyev: Southern Gas Corridor to be inaugurated tomorrow

Baku, May 28, AZERTAC “The opening ceremony of the Southern Gas Corridor will be held tomorrow,” said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev as he addressed an official reception held on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. “We have managed to connect the seas with oil and gas pipelines. For the first time in history, the Caspian Sea was connected with the Black Sea and Mediterranean Sea through the oil pipelines. On our initiative, the oil and gas pipelines such as Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum, Baku-Supsa were constructed. In terms of energy security, Azerbaijan has become an important country not only on the regional, but also on the global scale. Great work is currently underway towards the implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor project, and the Southern Gas Corridor will be inaugurated tomorrow. This is indeed a historic triumph of our country,” the head of state noted. “As for the natural gas resources, these resources will be enough for us and for those who will benefit from this cooperation for at least 100 years to come. However, we should constantly look ahead. We must ensure long-term, sustainable development strategy of our country. We have very clear ideas and views on this issue,” President Ilham Aliyev added.
