President Offers 4 Proposals To GECF To Improve Gas Market

Moscow, July 2, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Monday that energy consumer nations must not seek benefit more than the energy suppliers. Addressing the 2nd summit of he Gas Exporting Countries Forum, President Ahmadinejad called for adopting clear pricing mechanism for various kinds of gas. He said establishment of the GECF was a highly valuable initiative to ensure fair partnership in management of resources and energy market. First of all, said the president, clear mechanisms for pricing various types of gas should be worked out jointly, approved and enforced. He called for exchange of technical and executive experience by the members in the field of gas recovery, refining and transformation, with an aim to serve as a constructive and common ground for cooperation. He proposed joint investment and cooperation in exploring and exploitation of gas, building a definite mechanism as a chance to help the poor nations. The president said energy, especially fossil energy, are the most important economic factors in the world that play a decisive role in regulating the market of the product and even balancing the strategic and international policies. He said unfortunately, the group of people who have dark record of slavery and colonialism are monopolizing the worldˈs economic and political decision-making centers, imposing discrimination, poverty and wide-scale insecurity against countries and nations, thus preventing the world community to achieve peace and durable welfare. He made it clear that certain domineering powers possessing mines and energy resources, determine price in their own favor. Over the past hundred years, said the president, their domination and monopoly over the energy resources and market reaped hefty and unexpected wealth for them, preparing the ground for political domination of the world. He said, ˈThey use foreign exchange war, the world economic balance centers and any political pressure to dictate their wishes.ˈ ˈToday, we should help each other get rid of their monopoly and prepare the ground for a fair participation in global decision-making.ˈ Ahmadinejad said major portion of the energy resources, especially gas, belong to ˈour nations.
