Private sector urged to play more roles in Thailand's power production

BANGKOK, May 28 (TNA) - The private sector has been urged to play more roles in Thailand's power production. The call was made at a seminar on Thailand's Power Development Plan 2015, organized by the National Reform Council (NRC)'s energy reform committee in Bangkok on Thursday. Participants in the seminar also proposed that the Thai government promote more domestic consumption of alternative energy and liberalize rooftop solar power generating. Meanwhile, a representative of the Ministry of Energy said Thailand's Power Development Plan (PDP) 2015 is focused on energy security, low costs, the diversification of fuels for power production and the promotion of energy conservation and renewable energy, as well as the reduction in carbon dioxide emissions.
